Refinery

NIR technology is perfectly suited for accurate and continuous monitoring in refineries. Guided Wave’s products allow you to install multiple probes along a series of pipelines and transmit that data to a central location for observation and analysis. This allows for multiple sample points, reduced production costs, and system monitoring from a distance. The instantaneous results provided by Guided Wave systems have proved time and again to be invaluable to refineries, as our long and positive history with the petroleum industry shows. Our technologies can assist with gasoline and diesel blending, reforming and pipelines. We can measure many fuel characteristics including octane number, distillation points, Reid vapor pressure, Cetane index, Cetane number, cloud point, flash point, ASTM color and haze, freeze point and Saybolt color.

Octane

  • Solutions

The Model 412 can measure octane in gasoline, eliminating the need for the time and labor intensive knock engine method. This method can be used to find the Octane number of gasoline (RON and MON) on-line and in seconds with the accuracy of laboratory methods. The 412 can also be used to measure other parameters in your petroleum refining process, consolidating your testing needs into one analyzer.

Aromatics in Gasoline

  • Solutions

Using the Model 412 you can measure aromatics in gasoline over a wide concentration range with error comparable to current laboratory methods such as GC or fluorescent indicator absorption. With NIR you can take data in a matter of seconds without removing samples or exposing employees to hazardous chemicals, reducing costs and need for chemical disposal, and increasing product consistency and production efficiency.

Fuel Identification in Pipelines

  • Solutions

Using NIR absorbance peaks the ClearView db can quickly and effectively identify different fuels such as diesel versus jet fuel as well as identify different fuel qualities such as regular unleaded versus premium. The ClearView db takes real-time data both on-line and in the lab with the same accuracy as traditional laboratory methods. This analyzer allows you to improve product quality and decrease employee exposure to hazardous chemicals.
