VirtualView Remote Photometer Operation

Process instrumentation is often in another part of the plant. This requires the instrument specialist to take a time-consuming trip to make small changes in calibration or other settings.  Sometimes, the analytical chemist needs to update a calibration model, but this person may be in a different group in a completely different geographic location.

Therefore, it is important to have a means to communicate with the process analyzer remotely over a secure local area network.  VirtualView was designed for this purpose for Optical Solutions' brand photometers.

Features

  • All photometer screens appear in VirtualView
  • All functions (except zeroing) can be performed
  • Upload calibration coefficients
  • Upload outlier detection parameters
  • Upload directly from an OutlierDetect Excel calibration file
  • Download calibration data from the analyzer for archiving
  • Eliminate manual data entry transcription error

ChemView ⇔       VirtualView      OutlierDetect

VirtualView is the remote interface between the operator and a ClearView, ChemView, Simulplex or ChemViewMx photometer.  Furthermore it is the interface between our OutlierDetect software in Microsoft® Excel® and the photometer.  This enables you to access coefficients generated in OutlierDetect and upload them to the photometer remotely without having to use the programming push-buttons at the analyzer in the field.  This process also eliminates transcription errors in typing in numbers like +1.4325E+01.

The buttons annotated above represent the following functions:
  1. Save — Save all the settings as a *.asm file
  2. Open — Open an existing *.asm file to initialize VirtualViewMx.
  3. Import — Import the MLR coefficients and M and Q outliers from an OutlierDetect file.
  4. Contact Us — How to contact us.
  5. Password — Change the current VirtualViewMx Password.
  6. Terminal — Open OSI TerminalMx program.
  7. Upload — Upload a saved *.asm or *.hex file to the ChemViewMx.
  8. Download — Download the configuration from the ChemViewMx to initialize VirtualViewMx.
  9. Help — Open VirtualViewMx help files.
  10. About — About VirtualViewMx program.
  11. Close — Close VirtualViewMx program.
  12. Minimize — Minimize VirtualViewMx program
All of the screens in the photometer are in VirtualView - a help for training.  VirtualView uses the OSITerminal program to communicate with the Photometer.
